Different Dimension ~ Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty

Well, it certainly has been a long time since I've written a blog post. It was not intentional, that's for sure. Sometimes life gets in the way and before you know it a month or two flies by! I've been buying polish and swatching like crazy, hopefully I can get on a regular schedule one of these days....

Anyway, for today I have a polish to show you that I got awhile ago from Different Dimension which is a new favorite polish designer of mine. I had actually picked up 5 polishes:

My Different Dimension collection (so far!)

I chose Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty in honor of my kitty that had to go to the vet and get de-matted. He is a Birman that is suffering from CRF (Chronic Renal Failure) and is 15 years old and has basically stopped grooming himself. Anyway, this polish just spoke to me because of the soft grey jelly, different sized white hex glitter, silver holographic glitter and grey glitter. Like a warm fuzzy kitten! I used China Glaze Pelican Gray as an undie and 2 coats of Soft Kitty followed by top coat. On to the pics!

This was so hard to photograph, especially in the direct sun. I wanted to be able to pick up the holo glitter but the camera wasn't playing nice with me.

You can see in the bottle shot here some reflection of the holo goodness. Believe me, it is there. And it's gorgeous!!

Application on this was a breeze, I only had to do a bit of fishing for the larger pieces of glitter but overall, it went on with no problems.

And just for point of reference, here is my shaved boy. He's not grey (he's a Blue Point!), but he is definitely a Soft Kitty, Warm Kitty.... and he's a purring machine..... :)

Lumina Lacquer Sea Star

Yesterday was my birthday and as I was going through my ever growing stash of polishes looking for the perfect birthday mani, Sea Star immediately caught my eye. This polish is a glitter bomb (!) and is actually an upgrade from The Siren, both of which can be purchased from Tatiana's shop, Lumina Lacquer. She describes The Siren as a glitter bomb mixture of pastels: pink, blue, green, white, and aqua. Sea Star is all that with the addition of Holographic Stars. I layered Sea Star over two coats of Sally Hansen Sea. Without further ado, on to the pics!

Sea Star in the sun
check out that holo goodness! *sigh*

Sea Star in the shade
No matter which way the sun hits, you get a different look with this polish. As I told Tatiana on her Facebook page, this polish is like heaven in a bottle. It reminds me of sea shells I would find in the Caribbean, or even an abalone shell. Just beautiful. I did have a little problem with the star placement but it was manageable with the brush.

You can buy this and all of Lumina Lacquer's lovely polishes here. Would love to know if you have any of these polishes and if so, which one is your favorite?

Daring Digits Pink Lemonade

Is it hot enough for you where you're at? Here in Southern California, it's been unbearable these past few weeks. Especially when you have a house with no air conditioning. :( I figured while I am staying hydrated, it was time for some Pink Lemonade from Daring Digits! I actually received my 2nd order from Ashley (love her polishes!). Been wanting Pink Lemonade so when it came available, I snapped it right up!

Pink Lemonade is a yellow base with 2 different size matte pink glitters. It's so summery, just made me feel cooler putting it on! Enough of my yammering, on with the pictures!

Taken in the shade, which is also where I like to drink my pink lemonade... in the shade. :)
In the sun - hot! :)
You may be able to tell by the pictures above or below the experiment I did. On my ring finger, I used 3 coats of PL alone. On my middle finger, I used 2 coats of  WnW 203B 2% Milk and then 2 coats PL. On my index finger, I used one coat of WnW 203B 2% Milk and 2 coats of PL. I think two coats would have been sufficient but if you want to use this alone, I would definitely recommend 3 coats.

So there you have it. Love my Pink Lemonade! Be sure to check out Daring Digits Etsy store where you can find all of Ashley's fabulous polishes and check out her Facebook page for store updates. Last I checked, Pink Lemonade was sold out but hopefully it will be coming back soon. Plus, as of this writing, she has NEW polishes coming 8/26!! I can't wait!!

Hope you are keeping cool where ever you are.

Going for the Gold with Enchanted Polish Austin Powers

I've been really enjoying the Olympics the past couple of weeks, how about you? It's hard to believe that there is only a couple of days left and it will be all over. Seems like it was just yesterday that it was the opening ceremonies!

Since I've been in an Olympic mood, I decided to try on one of my (many) untrieds, Enchanted Polish Austin Powers. First of all, it's gold, and second, what's more London than Austin Powers?! Yeah Baby!! While I was at it I decided to try my hand at my dotting tool, it hasn't gotten much use lately. On to the pictures!

In the sun, look at that holo goodness!
Austin Powers is a gold/copper shimmer-glitter & holo. I have so many holo silvers in my polish stash but not much gold. This one is spectacular! Fully opaque in 2 coats and worthy of a gold medal in my opinion. On my ring finger, I am wearing Cult Nails Cruisin' Nude with a layer of Luderana Flocado Sol on top. It was actually the last mani I had and just left it on since it all seemed to mesh together so well!

Outside in the shade
Inside with flash
Whether inside or out, you just can't get away from the holo goodness that is this polish. I just love it. Imagine if the Olympic Gold Medals were painted with Austin Powers? That would be some major bling! You can purchase Enchanted Polish at Llarowe.com or Harlow & Co.

So, are you watching the Olympics? If so, what's your favorite event? Mine has been beach volleyball, followed by swimming.

Rainbow Honey A Little Kindness with Cult Nails Cruisin' Nude

Wow, it's August already. Were does the time go? I thought I would get more posts done last month but time got away from me. Oh well, onwards and upwards as they say!

I finally got my order from Rainbow Honey, all 8 of the lovelies from The Equestria Collection. Oh yes, all mine! Full size! I love each and every one. I couldn't decide which one to try first but since I already had Cult Nails Cruisin' Nude on my nails, and since pink is a favorite color of mine, I thought, gee, this might work!  Cruisin' Nude is an amazing beige nude polish with a pink shimmer so it matches up perfectly with ALK. Unfortunately, my camera didn't think so and didn't play nice. No matter where I went to take pictures, whether inside or out, I couldn't capture the true beauty of this polish.

According to Rainbow Honey's web site, the description of A Little Kindness is: Rose, white, gold, and soft green glitters float in a delicate and sheer yellow base with an iridescent pink shimmer.

The pictures just don't do this incredible polish justice!  In the sun shot above, you can see the reflections of the sparkles on my middle and pinkie finger. Sparkly!

Rainbow Honey - A Little Kindness

I love pink and brown together, it's one of my favorite combos. Unfortunately in this case, I don't know if the shade of Cruisin' Nude was too light. I wish I was more tan to show this combo off!

Rainbow Honey - A Little Kindness

Of course in my quest to get that purrfect shot, the furkids decided they wanted to get in on the action! In the first picture below is my Birman, Perry. He wanted to rub his face all over the bottle. He is also the one responsible for the hairs you may or may not see in pictures I take throughout my blog. *ahem*

Then I went into the living room and here comes Teddy. He's my American Eskimo. Was a cruddy picture but wanted to show how he too loves to get into my business. :)

Do you have any of the polishes from  The Equestria Collection ? If so, which is your favorite? I'm still trying to decide, but I know I'm going to have fun playing with them all!

Zoya Zuza and Candy Lacquer High Tide

It's been awhile since my last post. To be honest, I've been spending so much time reading all the blogs I follow, I haven't been keeping up my own blog. I know, I've been very very bad!! Anyway, I wanted to share some pretties with you today.

Recently I got some nail mail from Candy Lacquer:

L to R: Modern Love, High Tide, Starlight
Gorgeous-ness!
Modern Love, High Tide, Starlight
I've since placed another order, which I hope will be here any day. shhhhhhh.... don't tell hubby... He says I've been getting a box a day. What does he know?!?

Anyway, I couldn't wait to try High Tide. I love turquoise, it reminds me of the Caribbean, Hawaii, all the great places we've been to on vacation. But first I needed to try another new color I had received, this by Zoya.

Zoya Zuza
Zoya Zuza is from the Beach & Surf 2012 Collection, and as Zoya says on their web site, can be best described as: "Deep, saturated, oceanic turquoise with gold and silver metallic shimmer and a foil-like finish. A beachy, colorful, foil-like shade with the perfect balance between blue and green." I love this polish!

Candy Lacquer High Tide over Zoya Zuza
As the accent nail, I added High Tide which is a gorgeous holo bottle of glitters in shades of blues and greens. I can't stop staring at this bottle, it's fabulous!! The sparkle it gives off is so spectacular, I can't wait to try it over other colors as well.

Do you have any Candy Lacquer polishes, if so, which is your favorite? You can buy Candy Lacquer on Etsy. I believe High Tide is not available at the moment, but there are several other fantastic colors that are. Be sure to check her out!!

Happy 4th of July!

Happy early 4th to all of my friends here in the U.S. Hope everyone has a safe and fun day tomorrow. We are going to some friends house for an early barbeque and some adult beverages. Don't you hate when a holiday falls in the middle of the week? Screws everything up. Of course, my husband is taking the rest of the week off, talk about screwing everything up. LOL  Anyway, on to my 4th of July mani!

let the fireworks begin!
I had bought this bottle of Independence Day from The Polish Bar awhile ago. Independence Day is a limited edition polish that is packed with fine matte white, red and blue glitters, as well as larger matte blue hex glitters. Love this polish! It goes on nicely, dries quickly. I had planned on using this over solely over Wet N Wild's Saved By The Blue but plans changed when the blue gllitter wasn't showing up like I thought it would.

I figured that if I used red, white and blue (the colors of our flag), you would be able to see the difference variations of Independence Day. Different colored glitters seem to pop on different colored name enamel, very cool! I think the one that showed the best though was the white, especially in the shade. The Red I used was Urban Decay Kiss and the White is Essie Marshmellow, 2 coats for all.

And of course I then had to add that extra sparkle of holo goodness, it is after all, Independence Day!! So I added a coat of Wet 'N Wild's Stars & Stripes. Those stars were a pain to fish out of that skinny neck bottle but worth it in the end.  I followed that all with a coat of Gelous and a coat of SV.

I bought 4 other polishes from The Polish Bar besides Independence Day, can't wait to swatch them! The last I checked, she still had stock available of Independence Day as well as some other favorite colors of mine. Here is a link to her Etsy Store.

Again, have a safe and fun holiday tomorrow! For those of you living in the hot zones, stay cool!!

Butter London Lillibet's Jubilee with a side of Orly Flash Glam FX

I've been lemming Butter London's latest addition to their line, Lillibet's Jubilee, ever since it was announced. The Queen's Jubilee celebration came and went and I finally got my polish! This was created to honor the international celebration marking the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s accession to the throne. According to Butter London's site, they describe Lillibet's Jubilee as:

Lillibet’s Jubilee is a silvery, lavender metallic foil that boasts the perfect amount of sparkle that is fit for a queen!

To me it is more than a foil, it's borderline frosty. I don't normally like frosty but I love this polish! My camera wasn't very happy in trying to take pictures! You would not believe how many pictures I took just to get these two. I used two thin coats and one coat of SV.

taken in shade

taken in direct sunlight
This has a really nice application and as you can see in the second picture above, there is a definite lavender tint there. I'm surprised it shows up more in the second picture, rather than the picture that was taken in the shade!

So after a couple of days I was kinda bored and had bought these two Orly Flash Glam FX Polishes, and I said to myself...gee I wonder how these would look layered over ole Lillibet?

Be Brave
Be Brave in the shade
Can't Be Tamed
OK, so it was a good idea while it lasted and I will try anything at least once! Actually, I love both of these polishes. Be Brave reminds me of tinsel on a Christmas tree, even though it's purple (holographic bar glitter), but in the way it sparkles! I didn't mind it so much over Lillibet's Jubilee. However, as much as I love Can't Be Tamed, I think it was a bit much for this mani. It really needs to be over something less sparkly to begin with, a creme or a matte would be fun. It's a wonderful mix of purple glitter and a small almost gunmetal glitter combination in a clear base.

Have a great weekend everyone! TGIF!

Ozotic 505

Have you ever had one of those manis that you never want to take off? That's how I feel about this one. I love love love (Did I say I love?) Ozotic 505!! I got this as part of a recent nail mail haul from llarowe.com. It's sold out at the moment but according to her site, it's supposed to be restocked next week (6/20). Unfortunately, this is one of the Ozotics that is soon-to-be-discontinued so if you don't have it yet, I highly recommend getting yourself a bottle if you can. I hope Ozotic comes up with something equally as fabulous, if not more fabulous to replace it.

Ozotic 505 is a multi chrome nail polish that shifts from dark green to dark purple to blue. I know most people layer this over black, but i decided to layer it over white. Three coats (it's very sheer), plus top coat.

Check out the blue/green!
The color is shifting so you can see blue/green and purple at the same time!
Purple on the nails, while green (teal) reflects off the bottle.

I have actually had this on for almost a week now, and it has worn quite nicely. No chipping, no signs of wear.  Not to mention, I have never had so many compliments on my nails before. From complete strangers! Love this line and I am definitely going to add more colors before it's gone forever!!

Some Fun with Yummy Mummy

I've been wanting to try Butter London's Yummy Mummy forever, having adding it and several other of their fabulous colors to my stash recently. Love Butter London! Goes on nicely, it's opaque in 2 coats and Yummy Mummy is a great neutral beige. On their web site they say: "This medium beige colour is simply stunning on EVERY skin colour." Well, I'm not sure about that. To be honest, I think it would look better on me if I was tan. So I will try it again later in the summer to see how it compares.

I am in an experimenting mood these days because I have been reading all the great nail blogs out there and want to try everything! LOL After a couple of days of wearing Yummy Mummy, I thought, hmmmm.. this might be a good time to try a Caviar Nail! Or Microbead Nail if you will. So off I went to Michael's to get my microbeads and this was my result:

Outside shot in the sun
In the shade!
Not too bad for my first try, I used a copper bead to have a little more of an accent color. It was a lot easier to do than the water marble! :)

Unfortunately, the beads didn't last too long. They started chipping away and then I started picking and then it was all over. But I still wasn't ready to let my Yummy Mummy mani go yet!

I have also been wanting to try out the new Sticks 'n Stones by Cover Band I got from ninjapolish.com and thought, this would be a great time as any!

Fabulous!
See the little hints of glitter?!

Oh my, I just LOVE this polish! Sticks 'n Stones is a clear base with a collection of various sizes and shapes of white and black hex glitters and bars. If you look closely on the 2nd picture, you can see some of the fine glitter that adds this pop here and there. I only used one coat. Awesome!

Stay tuned to see what I do to my next color of polish. One never knows..

Whimsical Ideas by Pam Kitty Glitter

In my never ending quest to discover all the great indie polishes out there, and there are oh so many (!), I came across Whimsical Ideas by Pam. Pam is not on Etsy but on Facebook. You can check out her Facebook page here and see all the great polishes she has to offer. I bought 4: Nimbus, Nancy's Birthday, Peanut Butter and Jelly, and Kitty Glitter. I love the packaging, the labels...and check out the cute bows on all the bottles!

Here is a shot of the back of the bottles, you can see all that fabulous glitter!

The first color I chose to try was Kitty Glitter. I already had Zoya Bevin on so I thought, this looks like a purrfect match..get it? Kitty Glitter? purrfect? Anyway...this is plain Zoya Bevin, which is pretty on its' own.

But add some Kitty Glitter and you get WOW!! I loved how this went on. I only used one coat and it was enough to give me the sparkle I wanted. And, there was no fishing around for sparkles. It was easy peasy. I also used one coat of Seche Vite for my top coat.

These pictures were taken indoors in both direct light and indirect light.

Be sure to check out Pam's Facebook Page. I know I'll be going back for more. In the meantime, I need to decide which one I'm going to try next!
